HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 15
BY REPRESENTATIVES DAVIS AND JAMES
A RESOLUTION
To recognize June 9, 2020, as Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital Day at the state
capitol.
WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake, a ministry of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our
Lady, has led the region's healthcare efforts in pediatric services for many years; and
WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital treats more than 100,000
patients annually from all Louisiana parishes, as well as children from Mississippi, Texas,
and Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital recently completed
construction of a new hospital which has more than 360,000 square feet, the region's only
pediatric Level II trauma program, a pediatric emergency room which is expected to serve
more than 35,000 patients annually, and one of only two full-time pediatric intensive care
units in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the new hospital also includes a surgical suite of five operating rooms,
a thirty-bed intensive care unit, forty medical/surgical in-patient beds, a hematology/
oncology floor with thirty in-patient specialized beds, and one of only eight outpatient
St. Jude Affiliate clinics in the nation; and
WHEREAS, the new children's hospital is an anchor for advanced pediatric care and
specialized programming for patients and families from across Louisiana and the
surrounding region; and
WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake Children's hospital is home to more than twenty-
five pediatric specialties and to the nationally recognized Our Lady of the Lake Pediatric
Residency Program, which provides training for future physicians; and

WHEREAS, the hospital is home to a pediatric transport team that has transported
more than twelve hundred patients over the last six years; and
WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital anchors a collaborative and
coordinated statewide pediatric health network that provides patients with more access to
physicians and providers specifically trained to care for children.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Tuesday, June 9, 2020, as Our Lady of the
Lake Children's Hospital Day at the state capitol and does hereby commend the entire Our
Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital community for tireless efforts to serve the healthcare
needs of the children of Louisiana.
