HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 53
BY REPRESENTATIVE STEFANSKI
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Gwen Hanks on her retirement from the Acadia Parish
Tourist Commission
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend Gwen Hanks on the occasion of her retirement after twenty-four years of
3 service with the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission.
4 WHEREAS, Gwen Hanks began her tenure with the Acadia Parish Tourist
5Commission on July 1, 1996, and is retiring as the commission's executive director this year;
6and
7 WHEREAS, during her tenure, Ms. Hanks played an important role in getting
8Louisiana byways established in Acadia Parish; she was an original member of the Zydeco
9Cajun Prairie Byway Commission, and she worked on all of the commission's major
10projects, including the first Corridor Management Plan; and
11 WHEREAS, Gwen was the leading source for information used on the commission's
12website, and her office took charge of fulfilling any leads generated from the website; she
13was instrumental in developing brochures and other literature promoting Acadia Parish and
14helped with the implementation of highway logo signs marking the location of the Louisiana
15byways; and
16 WHEREAS, Gwen Hanks is an admirable civil servant whose work with the
17Acadiana Parish Tourist Commission has contributed to the economy of Acadia Parish, has
18raised public awareness and appreciation of the history and culture of the Acadiana region,
19and is most deserving of recognition.
20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
21Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Gwen Hanks on the occasion of her

1retirement after twenty-four years of service with the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission;
2does hereby thank her for her tireless efforts to provide recognition for the Cajun culture and
3increase tourism in Acadia Parish; and does hereby extend sincere hopes and best wishes that
4she enjoy continued health and happiness as she embarks on a new journey in retirement.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Gwen
6Hanks.
