ENROLLED 2020 First Extraordinary Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 53 BY REPRESENTATIVE STEFANSKI A RESOLUTION To commend Gwen Hanks on the occasion of her retirement after twenty-four years of service with the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission. WHEREAS, Gwen Hanks began her tenure with the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission on July 1, 1996, and is retiring as the commission's executive director this year; and WHEREAS, during her tenure, Ms. Hanks played an important role in getting Louisiana byways established in Acadia Parish; she was an original member of the Zydeco Cajun Prairie Byway Commission, and she worked on all of the commission's major projects, including the first Corridor Management Plan; and WHEREAS, Gwen was the leading source for information used on the commission's website, and her office took charge of fulfilling any leads generated from the website; she was instrumental in developing brochures and other literature promoting Acadia Parish and helped with the implementation of highway logo signs marking the location of the Louisiana byways; and WHEREAS, Gwen Hanks is an admirable civil servant whose work with the Acadiana Parish Tourist Commission has contributed to the economy of Acadia Parish, has raised public awareness and appreciation of the history and culture of the Acadiana region, and is most deserving of recognition. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 53 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Gwen Hanks on the occasion of her retirement after twenty-four years of service with the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission; does hereby thank her for her tireless efforts to provide recognition for the Cajun culture and increase tourism in Acadia Parish; and does hereby extend sincere hopes and best wishes that she enjoy continued health and happiness as she embarks on a new journey in retirement.
