HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 27

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Vernon Parish District Attorney Asa Skinner on his retirement.
WHEREAS, after serving the Vernon Parish district attorney's office for over forty
years, Asa Skinner has announced his retirement; and
WHEREAS, District Attorney Skinner has served as district attorney since he was
elected to the position in 2009; he began serving as an assistant district attorney in 1979; and
WHEREAS, Skinner said that it was his efforts to stand up for the children of the
parish that brought him the most pride during his four decades of service to Vernon Parish;
he retires from his post with the utmost confidence that the new district attorney, Terry
Lambright, a twenty-year veteran in the DA's office with a background in Children and
Family Services, will continue to build upon his efforts to ensure the safety of all children
in Vernon Parish; and
WHEREAS, Skinner is a graduate of Leesville High School, Northwestern State
University, and the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University; he is married
to Karen Milam Skinner, and together they have two children, Clint and Colleen; and
WHEREAS, Asa Skinner has truly used his position to uplift and protect the
community, and his efforts to safeguard the children of Louisiana during his impressive
career with the Vernon Parish district attorney's office is deserving of the highest
recognition.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Vernon Parish District Attorney Asa Skinner on his retirement; does hereby thank
Asa Skinner for his outstanding efforts to create a safer environment for the people,
especially the children, of the parish; and does hereby extend sincere hopes and wishes that
he continue to experience good health and prosperity as he ventures into a new journey in
retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Asa
Skinner.
