HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 39
BY REPRESENTATIVES HARRIS AND MCFARLAND
A RESOLUTION
To commend McManus Timber Co. on being named 2020 Timber Harvesting Logging
Business of the Year by Timber Harvesting magazine.
WHEREAS, McManus Timber Co. of Winnfield, Louisiana, is the twenty-third
logging operation, and the first from Louisiana, to be named the Timber Harvesting Logging
Business of the Year; the award honors contractors who operate top-notch logging
companies and who positively impact their communities and work to build a better forestry
products industry; and
WHEREAS, McManus Timber Co. is owned by Tony and Liz McManus; the couple
have long been leaders in the Winnfield community, and McManus Timber is one of the
largest employers in Winn Parish, with thirty employees on the current payroll; and
WHEREAS, McManus Timber operates three logging crews and runs eleven log
hauling trucks; they have many loyal employees, including a saw-man with thirty-seven
years of experience and a trucking foreman with twenty-five years; and
WHEREAS, the McManuses attribute their success to the combined work ethic of
the four members of their family, Tony and Liz, their daughter Toni, and her husband Josh
McAllister; and
WHEREAS, a big factor determining selection as Timber Harvesting Logging
Business of the Year is a company's efforts to give back to the logging industry and create
better relationships; Tony McManus helped start the Louisiana Loggers Self-Insured Fund
twenty-five years ago and serves as the vice-chair; Toni McManus McAllister is the
executive director of the Louisiana Loggers Association, and her husband is the president
of the association's political action committee; and

WHEREAS, McManus Timber Co. is a pillar of the Louisiana economy and has
brought immense honor to the state in winning this award; McManus Timber Co. is most
deserving of commendation for this achievement and for its work in the logging industry.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend McManus Timber Co. on being named 2020
Timber Harvesting Logging Business of the Year by Timber Harvesting magazine and does
hereby extend sincere hopes and wishes that McManus Timber and the McManus family
continue to prosper for many years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Tony
and Liz McManus.
