HLS 202ES-699 ORIGINAL 2020 Second Extraordinary Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 49 BY REPRESENTATIVES GARY CARTER, BUTLER, DAVIS, DESHOTEL, DUPLESSIS, KERNER, AND WILLARD SMALL BUSINESS: Expresses support of the House of Representatives for making future stimulus programs for pandemic and disaster relief easier for minority, female, veteran, small, and rural business owners to access 1 A RESOLUTION 2To express the support of the Louisiana House of Representatives for making future 3 stimulus programs for pandemic and disaster relief easier for minority, female, 4 veteran, small, and rural business owners to access. 5 WHEREAS, 2020 has been a year of successive calamities befalling our citizens and 6economy; and 7 WHEREAS, Louisiana received substantial and much-needed aid from the federal 8government to assist businesses suffering from disaster-related closures and restrictions; and 9 WHEREAS, some aid programs enacted by the legislature inadvertently hindered 10access for minority, female, veteran, small, and rural businesses by requiring voluminous 11documentation and strict adherence to a multitude of legal formalities; and 12 WHEREAS, while remaining mindful of the need to guard against fraud, waste, and 13abuse, the Louisiana House of Representatives recognizes that aid programs in the future 14should, to the extent possible, be made easier so that suffering business owners can access 15necessary funding. 16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its support for making future stimulus 18programs for pandemic and disaster relief easier for minority, female, veteran, small, and 19rural business owners to access.
