ENROLLED 2020 Second Extraordinary Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 49 BY REPRESENTATIVES GARY CARTER, BRYANT, BUTLER, COX, DAVIS, DESHOTEL, DUPLESSIS, GAINES, HARRIS, JAMES, JENKINS, TRAVIS JOHNSON, JONES, JORDAN, KERNER, LARVADAIN, LYONS, MARCELLE, NEWELL, SELDERS, AND WILLARD A RESOLUTION To express the support of the Louisiana House of Representatives for making future stimulus programs for pandemic and disaster relief easier for minority, female, veteran, small, and rural business owners to access. WHEREAS, 2020 has been a year of successive calamities befalling our citizens and economy; and WHEREAS, Louisiana received substantial and much-needed aid from the federal government to assist businesses suffering from disaster-related closures and restrictions; and WHEREAS, some aid programs enacted by the legislature inadvertently hindered access for minority, female, veteran, small, and rural businesses by requiring voluminous documentation and strict adherence to a multitude of legal formalities; and WHEREAS, while remaining mindful of the need to guard against fraud, waste, and abuse, the Louisiana House of Representatives recognizes that aid programs in the future should, to the extent possible, be made easier so that suffering business owners can access necessary funding. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its support for making future stimulus programs for pandemic and disaster relief easier for minority, female, veteran, small, and rural business owners to access.
