2020 Second Extraordinary Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21 BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX A RESOLUTION To commend Jerry Romero on the occasion of his retirement from Acadian Ambulance after forty-four years of service. WHEREAS, Jerry Romero began his career at Acadian Ambulance in 1977 as an EMT and has served as a paramedic, dispatcher, dispatch supervisor, operations manager, vice president of operations, senior vice president, and president; and WHEREAS, he played a key role in the expansion of Acadian Ambulance into Texas in 2006, when the company entered Orange County, and works closely with the Texas team to continue growth through RFPs, contracts, and acquisitions; and WHEREAS, Mr. Romero's extensive involvement in community organizations includes work with the United Way, the American Heart Association, and the Boy Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, he has served as an executive board member of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and past event chairman of the "Be a Heartstarter" mass CPR training event in Lafayette and is an ex-officio board member of the Louisiana Emergency Medical Unit; and WHEREAS, his charitable affiliations include being a member of the Lafayette Parish Career & Technical Education Advisory Council, the Lafayette Workforce Investment Board, and the Lafayette High School Health Academy Advisory Board; and WHEREAS, Mr. Romero is past chairman of the American Heart Association Gala, the American Heart Association Louisiana Advocacy Committee, and past board chair of the Lafayette Chapter of the American Heart Association; and WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Leadership Louisiana and Leadership Southwest in Lake Charles, as well as past board member of Crime Stoppers of Lake Charles, a member of the Allocation Committee of United Way of Acadiana, loan executive for United Way of Acadiana, and past Parish Council Member of St. Edmond Catholic Church; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 21 ENROLLED WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depends, in great measure, upon the dedication of people like Jerry Romero; and WHEREAS, Jerry Romero merits the highest commendation and most sincere congratulations upon the occasion of his retirement from Acadian Ambulance after forty-four years of dedicated service. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Jerry Romero for his exceptional career and service to Acadian Ambulance, does hereby express to him enduring appreciation for his distinguished service to the citizens of Acadiana, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his vital contributions and tireless dedication to the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
