INSURANCE/AUTOMOB ILE:  Repeals certain penalties for failure to maintain
compulsory motor vehicle liability insurance
1	AN ACT
2To repeal R.S. 32:866, relative to compulsory motor vehicle liability security; to repeal
3 certain penalties for the failure to maintain compulsory motor vehicle liability
4 security.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 32:866 is hereby repealed in its entirety.

Abstract:  Repeals the prohibition of  recovery for the first $15,000 for bodily injury claims
and the first $25,000 for property damage claims when the claimant fails to maintain
the minimum required motor vehicle liability coverage.
Present law provides for compulsory motor vehicle liability security and provides for
minimum required coverage ($15,000 for bodily injury and $25,000 for property).
Present law provides penalties for failure to maintain the minimum required coverage,
including prohibiting recovery for the first $15,000 for bodily injury claims and the first
$25,000 for property damage claims.
Proposed law repeals the prohibition from recovery for failure to maintain the minimum
required coverage.
