MARRIAGE/LICENSE: Provides relative to the requirements for a marriage license
application
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 9:223(B) and to repeal R.S. 9:224(A)(6), relative to applications
3 for a marriage license; to provide relative to certain required information; to remove
4 the requirement that the social security number of each applicant be provided; to
5 provide relative to the form of an application for marriage; and to provide for related
6 matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 9:223(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:

Abstract: Removes the requirement that the social security number of each applicant be
included on the application for a marriage license.
Present law provides for certain required identifying information to be included in an
application for a marriage license. Such required information includes the names and
addresses of the applicants, dates of birth, names of the parents, and social security numbers.

Proposed law retains present law but removes the requirement that the social security
number of each applicant be included on the application.
