HB 375 Original 2020 Regular Session Farnum
Abstract: Provides relative to per diem paid to members of the governing board of drainage
districts in Calcasieu Parish.
Present law provides that each member of the board of commissioners of gravity drainage districts
in Calcasieu Parish shall not be paid per diem for more than 36 days in any one year. Further
provides for an exception for members of the board of commissioners of the Calcasieu Parish
Drainage District No. 4 and the Calcasieu Parish Drainage District No. 5, whom shall not be paid
per diem for more than 48 days in any one year.
Proposed law provides instead that each member of the board of commissioners of the Consolidated
Gravity Drainage District No. 1 and the Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 2 of Calcasieu
Parish shall not be paid per diem for more than 48 days in any one year. Further provides that the
president may receive a per diem for not more than 12 additional days for each day spent performing
administrative duties, subject to approval of a 2/3 vote of the entire board.
Present law provides that the maximum per diem for such commissioners is $150. Proposed law
retains present law.
