RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 263 (HB 390) 2020 Regular Session Larvadain New law provides free parking for a disabled veteran, his conveyance, and his passengers at any Port of New Orleans cruise terminal. New law requires the free parking for the disabled veteran be located in the closest available cruise terminal parking lot. New law requires the disabled veteran to provide proof of disability in the form of a military honor license plate or a completed certificate from the La. Dept. of Veterans Affairs. New law requires the disabled veteran to park in the Port of New Orleans designated parking lots to receive the parking fee exemption. New law specifies that the time period an authorized disabled veteran is granted free parking at the Port of New Orleans cruise terminal cannot exceed seven days. Further provides that a disabled veteran may be charged the customary parking fee for each day he remains parked at the cruise terminal beyond seven days. New law authorizes the Port of New Orleans to utilize appropriate methods of informing the public of the free parking for disabled veterans to include, but not be limited to, advertisements and signage. New law allows for the Port of New Orleans to determine its own procedures for validating parking vouchers or reimbursing a parking fee. Effective Aug. 1, 2020. (Adds R.S. 29:27.2)
