PARDON: Provides relative to the payment of court costs and first offender pardons
1 AN ACT
2To repeal R.S. 15:572(B)(3), relative to pardons; to repeal the requirement that all court
3 costs imposed in connection with the crime for which a first offender pardon is
4 issued must be paid before a pardon is issued.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 15:572(B)(3) is repealed in its entirety.

Abstract: Repeals the requirement that all court costs which were imposed in connection
with the crime for which a pardon is issued must be paid before issuance of the
pardon.
Present law prohibits the issuance of a first offender pardon unless the person has paid all
of the court costs which were imposed in connection with the conviction of the crime for
which the pardon is to be issued.
Proposed law repeals present law.
