Existing law authorizes the assistant secretary of an office of the Dept. of Culture, Recreation
and Tourism to employ, appoint, remove, assign, and promote personnel in his office.
New law authorizes the secretary of the department to take personnel actions, such as
employing, appointing, and removing such personnel, with regard to personnel in an office
of the department if there is a vacancy in the assistant secretary position of that office.
Effective Aug. 1, 2020.
