R.S. 13:5713(C)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 9 ยง5713. [R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 468 Original 2020 Regular Session Amedee Abstract: Adds SUID to circumstances in which the coroner must notify the parish health unit and requires the coroner to file a VAERS report when the cause of death is SIDS or SUID and when the infant's death occurred within 30 days of last vaccination. Present law provides that if the coroner finds that the cause of death was Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, he shall notify the director of the parish health unit within 48 hours after such determination. Proposed law retains present law and adds Sudden Unexpected Infant Death to circumstances in which the coroner shall notify the director of the parish health unit within 48 hours after such determination. Proposed law requires the coroner to file a VAERS report when the cause of death was Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Proposed law also requires the coroner to file a VAERS report when the infant died within 30 days of the infant's last vaccination.
