Be it resolved by the Legislature of Louisiana, two-thirds of the members 7elected to each house concurring, that there shall be submitted to the electors of the state of 8Louisiana, for their approval or rejection in the manner provided by law, a proposal to 9amend Article V, Section 26(A) of the Constitution of Louisiana, to read as follows: 10 §26. District Attorneys 11 Section 26.(A) Election; Qualifications; Assistants. In each judicial district 12 a district attorney shall be elected for a term of six ten years. He shall have been 13 admitted to the practice of law in the state for at least five years prior to his election 14 and shall have resided in the district for the two years preceding election. A district 15 attorney may select assistants as authorized by law, and other personnel. 16 * * * 17 Section 2. Be it further resolved that this proposed amendment shall be submitted 18to the electors of the state of Louisiana at the statewide election to be held on November 3, 192020. Present constitution provides that a district attorney shall have been admitted to the practice of law in the state for at least five years prior to his election and shall have resided in the district for the two years preceding election. Present constitution provides that district attorneys are elected for a term of six years. Proposed constitutional amendment retains present constitution but changes the term of office for district attorneys from six years to 10 years. Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held Nov. 3, 2020. (Amends Const. Art.
