HOUSE BILL NO. 642

EMPLOYMENT:  Provides relative to immunization waivers for employees
1	AN ACT
2To enact Part III of Chapter 3 of Title 23 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to be
3 comprised of R.S. 23:271, relative to employment conditioned upon vaccinations;
4 to prohibit the requirement for vaccinations for employment; to provide for written
5 documentation against immunizations; and to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  Part III of Chapter 3 of Title 23 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950,
8comprised of R.S. 23:271, is hereby enacted to read as follows:
9	PART III.  VACCINATIONS IN THE WORKPLACE
10 ยง271. Immunizations of employees
11	As a condition of employment, no employee shall be required to present
12 evidence of immunity to or immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases if the
13 employee submits a written statement from a physician stating that the vaccine or
14 immunization is contraindicated for medical reasons or the employee submits a
15 written dissent objecting to the procedure.

Abstract:  Allows employees to provide written documentation in order from being required
to produce evidence of immunity or immunization against vaccine-preventable
diseases.
Proposed law provides that as a condition of employment, no employee shall be required to
present evidence of immunity to or immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases, if
the employee submits a written statement from a physician stating that the vaccine or
immunization is contraindicated for medical reasons or the employee submits a written
dissent objecting to the procedure.
