Inmate contact with persons outside institution; temporary release 8 A.(1)(a) The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections 9 may authorize visits and correspondence under reasonable conditions between 10 inmates and approved friends, relatives, and other persons. Present law authorizes the secretary of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to authorize visits and correspondence under reasonable conditions between inmates and approved friends, relatives, and other persons. Proposed law retains present law and adds that visits authorized pursuant to present law shall be conducted in-person unless the inmate agrees to visitation in another form or if the warden of the facility determines that an in-person visitation would cause a substantial risk to the safety and security of the facility or the persons involved in the visitation.
