COSMETOLOGY/BOARD: Provides relative to examination and licensing fees assessed
by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 37:599(A)(1) and (2), relative to licensing fees assessed by the
3 board of cosmetology; to make fees nonrefundable; to provide for examinations; to
4 remove resident and nonresident statuses; to increase fees for initial individual
5 licenses; to increase fees for renewal of individual licenses; to make technical
6 changes; and to provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 37:599(A)(1) and (2) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as
9follows:
10 ยง599. Fees
11 A. The following nonrefundable fees shall be assessed by the board:
12 (1) For each practical or state theory examination given by the
13 examination team to an applicant: $25.00
14 (a) Theory examination $25.00
15 (b) Practical examination $25.00
16 (c) Re-take of any examination $25.00
17 (2)(a) For each application for an initial license, permit, or certificate of
18 registration and each annual renewal of such the license, permit, or certificate: for
19 an individual seeking to manage, teach, or perform a service regulated by the board:
20 $35.00

Present law provides for assessed fees for certain examinations. Proposed law retains
present law.
Proposed law removes from present law the reference to certain resident and nonresident
statuses, positions, permits, and applicable fees.
Proposed law increases fees for certain licenses, permits, certificates of registration, and
renewals from $25 to $35.
Proposed law makes technical changes.
