HOUSE BILL NO. 794
BY REPRESENTATIVE KERNER
COASTAL RES/COASTAL ZONE:  Requires that mitigation monies associated with the
funding for the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion integrated coastal protection
project shall be allocated to the Lafitte Area Independent Levee District and used to
complete levee improvements
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 49:214.5.9, relative to integrated coastal protection; to provide for the use of
3 mitigation funding associated with the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion integrated
4 coastal protection project for completion of certain levee improvements; and to
5 provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 49:214.5.9 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง214.5.9.  Mitigation funding associated with the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion
9	project; completion of levee improvements by the Lafitte Area Independent
10	Levee District
11	Mitigation monies associated with the funding for the Mid-Barataria
12 Sediment Diversion integrated coastal protection project shall be allocated to the
13 Lafitte Area Independent Levee District and used to complete levee improvements.
14 Levee improvements shall be determined by the Lafitte Area Independent Levee
15 District.

Proposed law requires the use of mitigation monies associated with the funding for the Mid-
Barataria Sediment Diversion integrated coastal protection project shall be allocated to the
Lafitte Area Independent Levee District and used to complete levee improvements.  Levee
improvements will be determined by the Lafitte Area Independent Levee District.
