COMMENDATIONS: Commends the efforts of Melville Woman's Club to preserve the
historic St. Nathaniel Episcopal Church in Melville, Louisiana
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the Melville Woman's Club on their efforts to preserve the historic St.
3 Nathaniel Episcopal Church in Melville, Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, the Melville Woman's Club was formed in 1951 and federated in 1953
5with the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC); and
6 WHEREAS, the Melville Woman's Club currently has fifteen active members and
7was recognized as "Club of the Year" at the 2019 GFWC Louisiana State Convention; and
8 WHEREAS, in 2005, the club purchased St. Nathaniel's Episcopal Church in
9Melville, Louisiana, and has since worked to preserve the historic landmark; St. Nathaniel's
10was built in 1888 and no longer serves as an active place of worship; and
11 WHEREAS, the Melville Woman's Club has demonstrated its concern for the
12preservation of historic Louisiana landmarks, and for such civic-minded work, the women
13of the Melville Woman's Club are certainly deserving of recognition.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
15commend the Melville Woman's Club on its efforts to preserve the historic St. Nathaniel's
16Episcopal Church in Melville, Louisiana and does hereby express appreciation for the club's
17sense of civic duty.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
19Melville Woman's Club.
