ENROLLED 2020 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 18 BY REPRESENTATIVE BUTLER A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend the Melville Woman's Club on its efforts to preserve the historic St. Nathaniel's Episcopal Church in Melville, Louisiana. WHEREAS, the Melville Woman's Club was formed in 1951 and federated in 1953 with the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC); and WHEREAS, the Melville Woman's Club currently has fifteen active members and was recognized as "Club of the Year" at the 2019 GFWC Louisiana State Convention; and WHEREAS, in 2005, the club purchased St. Nathaniel's Episcopal Church in Melville, Louisiana, and has since worked to preserve the historic landmark; St. Nathaniel's was built in 1888 and no longer serves as an active place of worship; and WHEREAS, the Melville Woman's Club has demonstrated its concern for the preservation of historic Louisiana landmarks, and for such civic-minded work, the women of the Melville Woman's Club are certainly deserving of recognition. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Melville Woman's Club on its efforts to preserve the historic St. Nathaniel's Episcopal Church in Melville, Louisiana, and does hereby express appreciation for the club's sense of civic duty.
