HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 33
BY REPRESENTATIVE FREIBERG
EDUCATION:  Requests the Board of Regents, Department of Revenue, Louisiana
Workforce Commission, and office of student financial assistance to collaborate to
study the trajectory of Louisiana's postsecondary graduates
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To urge and request the Board of Regents, the Department of Revenue, the Louisiana
3 Workforce Commission, and the office of student financial assistance to work
4 collaboratively to develop a uniform way to track students who obtain jobs and
5 internships after graduating from Louisiana public postsecondary education
6 institutions.
7 WHEREAS, an educated, highly skilled, and professional workforce is critical to the
8overall success of the state; however, there is concern that a significant percentage of
9students are graduating in Louisiana and finding employment in other states; and
10 WHEREAS, data on how and where our best and brightest pursue careers after
11postsecondary education is often unavailable; and
12 WHEREAS, coordination and collaboration on collecting data related to the success
13of graduates in the Louisiana workforce would help public postsecondary education
14institutions and employers develop policies and practices to retain Louisiana graduates in
15Louisiana.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
17urge and request the Board of Regents, the Department of Revenue, the Louisiana Workforce
18Commission, and the office of student financial assistance to work collaboratively to develop
19a uniform way to track students who obtain jobs and internships in the state after graduating
20from Louisiana public postsecondary education institutions.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the agencies shall solicit information from
2public postsecondary management boards regarding how information is currently collected
3relative to two-year institution graduates, four-year institution graduates, and advanced
4degree graduates and their internship and job placement rates after graduation; such
5information shall include but not be limited to which agency is best fit for the collection of
6such data.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Regents shall survey colleges and
8universities outside of Louisiana to identify best practices in this area.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the agencies shall report their progress to the
10House Committee on Education and the Senate Committee on Education by January 31,
112021.
