ENROLLED 2020 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 24 BY REPRESENTATIVES MCFARLAND, MIKE JOHNSON, HARRIS, AND BUTLER A RESOLUTION To commend the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS Association on its seventy-fifth anniversary and on its efforts to unite those engaged in the recognized branches of the real estate profession for the purpose of exerting a beneficial influence upon the profession and related interests. WHEREAS, the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS Association is a trade association representing more than four hundred real estate professionals across nine parishes in Central Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS Association was incorporated on March 5, 1945, as the Alexandria Real Estate Board; and WHEREAS, the first board of directors of the corporation was composed of Charles N. White, president, S.R. Cummings, vice president, W.C. Webb, second vice president, L.B. Gremillion, secretary, and directors: E.M. Ellington, treasurer, Tom Howell, Mrs. E.A. Porter, J.F. Chamber, H.B. Hall, C.M. Waters, Jr., Joe B. Brown, A.J. Buckner, Tom Wells, and William I. Hustmeyre; and WHEREAS, in 1945, the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS Association was accepted as a member of the National Association of REALTORS, a national trade association of over one million three hundred thousand members with a purpose of raising the standards of real estate practice and preserving the right of property ownership in the interest of the public welfare; and WHEREAS, since 1945, the members of the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS Association have worked as tireless advocates for the real estate industry and the people of Central Louisiana by promoting the passage of laws to provide equal opportunity for Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 24 ENROLLED housing, to constitutionally prohibit taxes on the transfer of property, and for countless other measures; and WHEREAS, the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS provide a unified medium for real estate owners and those engaged in the real estate profession whereby their interests may be safeguarded and advanced; and WHEREAS, in its seventy-five year history, the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS Association has provided a facility for education, research, and the exchange of information for those engaged in the real estate business and has served to promote the interest, dignity, and character of the real estate profession in Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS Association on its seventy-fifth anniversary.
