HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 27
BY REPRESENTATIVE MCFARLAND
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Louisiana FFA Association and its state officers on 90 years of promoting
premier leadership, personal growth, and career success among its members.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana FFA Association was chartered in 1930 as part of the
National Future Farmers of America Organization; and
WHEREAS, the organization officially changed its name to FFA in 1988 to reflect
the growing diversity of the agriculture industry; and
WHEREAS, agricultural education and FFA prepare and train students to ensure a
steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing need in the science, business, and
technology of agriculture; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the FFA organization is to make a positive difference in
the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth,
and career success through agricultural education; and
WHEREAS, the motto of the FFA organization, "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn,
Earning to Live, Living to Serve", gives members words to live by as they experience the
opportunities of the organization; and
WHEREAS, the National FFA Organization consists of more than seven hundred
thousand members in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana FFA Association has over eleven thousand agricultural
students in two hundred and four chapters throughout the urban, suburban, and rural areas
of our state; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives recognize the
importance of agriculture to the economy of this state, as well as the importance of the
education and training students receive through agricultural education programs that develop
competent and assertive agricultural leadership and skills.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana FFA Association on its 90th
anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature
of Louisiana also recognizes and commends the 2019-2020 state FFA officers as follows:
Jadyn' Durr, president; Amber Bridges, vice president (Area I); Salem Johnson, vice
president (Area II); Trevor Touchet, vice president (Area III); Tristan Foret, vice president
(Area IV); Dekota McGee, secretary; Victoria Higdon, treasurer; Zachary Mayfield,
reporter; Lindsey Detraz, sentinel; and Matthew Phillips, parliamentarian.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that eleven copies of this Resolution be transmitted
to the executive secretary of the Louisiana FFA Association.
