HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 9

A RESOLUTION
To commend Tangipahoa Parish Library on its seventy-fifth anniversary.
WHEREAS, on April 24, 1945, the voters of Tangipahoa Parish approved a millage
for the support of a public library for its citizens; and
WHEREAS, in the seventy-five years of its existence, the Tangipahoa Parish Library
has expanded its collections and its locations as the community grew; and
WHEREAS, the library has offered materials in multiple formats, programs for
people of all ages, outreach services to diverse communities, online services through its
website, literacy initiatives, computer training, and internet access for all ages; and
WHEREAS, public libraries support democracy with a commitment to provide
equitable access to information for all library users; and
WHEREAS, the Tangipahoa Parish Library has, through times of difficulty and
prosperity, continued to serve the people of Tangipahoa as a place of learning, culture, and
community; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Tangipahoa Parish Library is to provide all members
of the community with resources and programs to fulfill their informational, educational,
recreational, and cultural needs.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Tangipahoa Parish Library upon the
celebration of its seventy-fifth anniversary; does hereby recognize the honorable and
distinguished position the library holds in Tangipahoa Parish; and does hereby extend
enduring gratitude for its contributions and service to the community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
director of the Tangipahoa Parish Library.
