DIGEST SB 135 Original 2020 Regular Session Carter Present law provides that it shall be unlawful for an employer to engage in discriminatory practices based on an employee's race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Proposed law retains present law and provides that race shall include traits historically associated with race, including but not limited to hair texture and protective hairstyles. Also provides that "protective hairstyles" includes but is not limited to, natural hairstyles, braids, locks and twist. Effective August 1, 2020. (Adds R.S. 23:332(I))
