Provides for certain records and transcripts to be provided to the inmate upon release from incarceration. (8/1/20) 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 15:571.23, relative to probation, parole, or completion of sentence; to provide 3 for certain records and transcripts to be provided to the inmate; to provide for terms 4 and conditions; to provide for retention of records; and to provide for related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 15:571.23 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง571.23. Record provided to inmate upon release 8 A. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, upon release of 9 an inmate due to completion of sentence, probation, or parole, the inmate shall 10 be provided with a record of the following during his incarceration: good time 11 earned, work history, courses taken by him inclusive of grades earned, and 12 programs and certifications completed. The record shall include any official 13 educational or vo-tech transcripts of courses by the inmate during 14 incarceration. 15 B. The department shall verify the authenticity of the record provided 16 to the inmate. 17 C. During such time, the inmate 2 may obtain an additional copy of the record and may authorize the department 3 to provide a copy of the record to a specified third party. Dept. of Corrections (department) shall verify the authenticity of the record provided to the inmate.
