SENATE BILL NO. 417

AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE.  Repeals reporting requirements related to commercial
motor vehicle policies. (gov sig)
1	AN ACT
2 To repeal Act No. 262 of the 2019 Regular Session of the Legislature, relative to
3 commercial automobile insurance; to repeal requirement for automobile insurers to
4 submit annual data to the commissioner of insurance; to provide for an effective
5 date; and to provide for related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. Act No. 262 of the 2019 Regular Session of the Legislature is hereby
8 repealed.
9 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
10 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
11 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
12 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
13 effective on the day following such approval.

Present law requires automobile insurers to report to the commissioner of insurance certain
data related to commercial motor vehicles, including number of policies written, amount of
direct premiums written, and direct paid losses. Provides that the information reported
pursuant to present law is confidential. Defines "commercial motor vehicle". Provides that
present law shall be void May 1, 2025.
Proposed law repeals present law.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
