(8/1/20) 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 37:695.1, relative to engineers; to provide for powers and duties of the 3 Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board; to provide for 4 qualifications; to provide for waivers of certain requirements; to provide for certain 5 procedures and conditions; and to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 37:695.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง695.1. Fundamentals of engineering examination; wavier 9 A. Beginning January 1, 2021, the board shall not require an applicant 10 for licensure as a professional engineer to take the Fundamentals of Engineering 11 examination if he meets all of the following requirements: 12 (1) Is a graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum of four years 13 or more approved by the board as being of satisfactory standing. 14 (2) Has twenty years or more of progressive engineering experience in 15 work acceptable to the board. 16 (3) Is of good character and reputation. 17 (4) Has passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering examination. Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (board) to waive the Fundamentals of Engineering examination if the applicant satisfies the following: (1) Is a graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum of four years or more approved by the board as being of satisfactory standing. (2) Has 20 years or more of progressive engineering experience in work acceptable to the board. (3)Is of good character and reputation. (4) Has passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering examination. Proposed law requires the board to adopt rules in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act by January 1, 2021.
