1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 11:1759(D), relative to the Municipal Employees' Retirement
3 System; to provide for clarification of terminology; to provide for an effective date;
4 and to provide for related matters.
5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 11:1759(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
8 ยง1759. Return of accumulated contributions

10 D. However, refunds of accumulated contributions shall not be required to
11 be made to the member or to his estate until and unless the member has been out of
12 service with terminated from a participating municipality for thirty days and until
13 all contributions for said member have been submitted by the member's employer.
14 Section 2. This Act shall become effective on June 30, 2020; if vetoed by the
15 governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on
16 June 30, 2020, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
