A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Damien Lewis on an outstanding 2019 season with the Louisiana State
University Fighting Tigers football team.
WHEREAS, Damien Lewis grew up in Canton, Mississippi, and is the son of Stacey
Lewis and Damien Dozier and the oldest of four boys; and
WHEREAS, since joining the Tigers as a junior college transfer, he played in
twenty-six consecutive games; and 
WHEREAS, known as the heart and soul of the Louisiana State University (LSU)
offense, Damien started at right guard in twenty-seven successive games; and
WHEREAS, he was named First Team All-American and Second Team
All-SEC; and
WHEREAS, Damien played eight hundred two snaps in 2019 with a team-best
thirty-two finishes and was a constant of the LSU offensive line that was named the Joe
Moore Award winner as the top unit in the nation; and
WHEREAS, he was the top lineman against Texas A&M with two finishes on
sixty-seven snaps, and finished with a team-high two knockdowns on forty-four snaps
against the University of Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, Damien is credited with a team-high five knockdowns in the win against
Ole Miss and led the offense to the most yards in a SEC game and second most in any game
in school history; and
WHEREAS, in the victory against Mississippi State University, he played all

sixty-one snaps and finished as the second-best lineman; and
WHEREAS, Damien graded out at ninety-three percent overall against the University
of Florida after not allowing the Gators one sack, and leading the Tigers to more than five
hundred yards; and
WHEREAS, he received the second-best overall grade against Utah State University,
matched the season opener with five knockdowns against the University of Texas, and
graded out as the highest rated lineman with five finishes on fifty-six snaps in the season
opener against Georgia Southern University; and
WHEREAS, Damien Lewis is a talented athlete who demonstrates impeccable
leadership and a commitment to excellence that is truly commendable; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting to herald the achievements of accomplished young men like
Damien Lewis, a model citizen who represents the best and brightest of the state and who
is deserving of the honors bestowed upon him as a member of the Louisiana State University
Fighting Tigers football team.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate Damien Lewis on an outstanding 2019 football season as right
guard for the Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers, does hereby record for posterity
the pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, community, the state of Mississippi,
the state of Louisiana, and the United States of America, and does hereby extend to him best
wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Damien Lewis.
