FESI, FIELDS, FOIL, HARRIS, HENRY, HENSGENS, HEWITT,

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Ja'Marr Chase on an outstanding 2019 football season with the Louisiana State
University Fighting Tigers.
WHEREAS, Ja'Marr Chase attended Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie,
Louisiana, and is the son of Jimmy and Toleah Chase; and
WHEREAS, Ja'Marr played wide receiver for the Archbishop Rummel High School
Raiders, and as a senior, he hauled in sixty-one receptions for one thousand eleven yards and
fifteen touchdowns enroute to breaking all receiving records in a single season for the
Raiders; and
WHEREAS, some of the most prestigious institutions in college football were
interested in adding Ja'Marr to their roster, including universities such as Tennessee, Florida,
Auburn, Georgia, and Michigan; and
WHEREAS, Ja'Marr signed a letter of intent to play with LSU and as a true freshman
in 2018, he played in all thirteen games and made seven starts, finishing the season with
twenty-three receptions for three hundred thirteen yards and three touchdowns; and
WHEREAS, he returned as a starter in 2019, and led the Football Bowl Subdivision
in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns; and
WHEREAS, at the end of the regular season, Ja'Marr was awarded the
Fred Biletnikoff Award as the best receiver in college football and was unanimously
recognized and named to the 2019 College Football All-America Team; and

WHEREAS, his twenty receiving touchdowns set a Southeastern Conference record,
and on three separate occasions he eclipsed two hundred receiving yards in a game,
including the College Football Playoff championship game record with two hundred
twenty-one yards against Clemson University; and
WHEREAS, Ja'Marr Chase is a talented Louisiana student and athlete who
demonstrates impeccable leadership and a commitment to excellence that is truly
commendable; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting to herald the achievements of Louisiana's accomplished
young men like Ja'Marr Chase, a model student and citizen who represents the best and
brightest of the state and who is deserving of the honors bestowed upon him as a member
of the Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers football team.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate Ja'Marr Chase on an outstanding 2019 football season as a wide
receiver with the Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers, does hereby record for
posterity the pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, community, the state of
Louisiana, and the United States of America, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for
continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Ja'Marr Chase.
