2020 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 32 BY SENATOR MCMATH A RESOLUTION To commend Zion Williamson for his generosity and support of the Smoothie King Center workers during the COVID-19 global pandemic. WHEREAS, as the COVID-19 global pandemic began to take shape in the United States, the National Basketball Association suspended all games for thirty days; and WHEREAS, Zion Williamson, power forward for the New Orleans Pelicans, pledged to cover the cost of Smoothie King Center employee salaries for thirty days; and WHEREAS, the Pelicans were scheduled to play seven home games during that time and as a result of Mr. Williamson's generosity, the employees were compensated even though the games did not take place; and WHEREAS, Zion Williamson merits the highest commendation for his generosity and support of the employees of the Smoothie King Center during the COVID-19 global pandemic and health crisis; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like Zion Williamson. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Zion Williamson on his unselfish generosity and support of the workers at the Smoothie King Center during the COVID-19 global pandemic and does hereby wish him continued success as a power forward for the New Orleans Pelicans basketball team.
