BOARDS/COMMISSIONS:  Authorizes the La. State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
to implement fees for certain services
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 37:2354(B)(4), (C)(4), (F), and (G), relative to the Louisiana State Board of
3 Examiners of Psychologists; to provide for assistants to a psychologist; to provide
4 for licensure and license renewal fees; to establish fees for continuing professional
5 development activities; to provide for special services; to provide for rulemaking by
6 the board; and to provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1.  R.S. 37:2354(B)(4), (C)(4), (F), and (G) are hereby enacted to read as
9follows:

14	(4)  The board shall charge an application fee for the initial registration of
15 each assistant to a psychologist that shall not exceed fifty dollars.  The board shall
16 adopt rules in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act to implement the
17 provisions of this Paragraph.

1	(4)  The board shall charge an annual renewal fee for every assistant to a
2 psychologist in this state during the month of July of each year, beginning in the year
3 immediately subsequent to his initial registration.  Such renewal fee shall not exceed
4 fifty dollars.  The board shall adopt rules in accordance with the Administrative
5 Procedure Act to implement the provisions of this Paragraph.

7	F.(1)  The board shall assess an application and renewal fee to an individual
8 who sponsors a continuing professional development course or activity and seeks
9 review and pre-approval of a continuing professional development course or activity.
10 The application and renewal fee shall be in an amount not to exceed two hundred
11 fifty dollars.
12	(2)  The board shall assess an application fee to a licensee who seeks review
13 and pre-approval of a continuing professional development course or activity.  The
14 application fee shall be an amount not to exceed twenty-five dollars.  The application
15 fee shall apply only if a licensee intends to earn a credit for the course or activity in
16 which the sponsor has not sought review or obtained approval by the board.
17	(3)  The board may collect reasonable admission fees from a licensee who
18 elects to attend a continuing professional development course or activity which may
19 be offered, sponsored, or co-sponsored by the board.  Such course or activity shall
20 be an elective to a licensee who attends and the board shall not require attendance
21 for such activity.
22	(4)  The board shall adopt rules in accordance with the Administrative
23 Procedure Act to implement the provisions of this Subsection.
24	G.(1)  The board may assess an administrative fee in an amount not to exceed
25 two hundred dollars for special services including but not be limited to any of the
26 following:
27	(a)  Application for authority to conduct telesupervision.
28	(b)  Application for an inactive license or renewal license status.
29	(c)  Application for emeritus status and renewal.

1	(d)  Any written or computer-generated license verification.
2	(e)  Any written or computer-generated disciplinary report.
3	(f)  To obtain a duplicate license.
4	(g)  To obtain a duplicate renewal certificate.
5	(h)  To obtain a mail list.
6	(2)  The board shall adopt rules in accordance with the Administrative
7 Procedure Act to implement the provisions of this Subsection.

Abstract: Authorizes the La. State Board of Examiners of Psychologists to assess certain
fees to licensees.
Present law provides that the board shall charge an application fee to all applicants who seek
licensure pursuant to present law.
Proposed law retains present law and adds that the board shall charge an application fee for
each assistant to a psychologist that shall not exceed $50.  Such fee shall be charged in the
month of July of each year, beginning in the year immediately subsequent to his initial
registration.  The board shall adopt rules in accordance with the Administrative Procedure
Act to implement the provisions of proposed law.
Present law provides that a person licensed by the board shall annually pay a fee during the
month of July of each year which shall not exceed an amount set by the board.
Proposed law retains present law and adds that the board shall set a renewal fee not to
exceed $50 for every assistant to a psychologist which shall be paid in accordance with
present law.  Further provides that the board shall adopt rules in accordance with the
Administrative Procedure Act to implement the provisions of proposed law. 
Proposed law provides that the board shall assess an application and renewal fee to an
individual who sponsors a continuing professional development course or activity and who
wishes for the board to review and pre-approve the course or activity.  Further provides the
application and renewal fee shall not exceed $250. 
Proposed law provides that the board shall assess an application fee to a licensee who seeks
renewal and pre-approval of a continuing professional development course or activity and
shall not exceed $25.  The application fee shall only apply if a licensee intends to earn a
credit for a course or activity in which the sponsor has not sought review or obtained
approval by the board.
Proposed law stipulates that the board may collect reasonable admission fees from a licensee
who attends a continuing professional development course or activity.  Such fee may be
collected for any course or activity that is offered, sponsored, or co-sponsored by the board. 
Proposed law further provides that the board shall not require attendance for a course or

activity which may be offered, sponsored, or co-sponsored.  Such activity shall be an
elective for a licensee who chooses to attends.
Proposed law provides that the board shall adopt rules in accordance with the Administrative
Procedure Act to implement the provisions of proposed law.
Proposed law provides that the board may assess fees not to exceed $200 for the following
special services identified by the board: 
(1) Application for authority to conduct telesupervision.
(2)Application for an inactive license or renewal license status.
(3) Application for emeritus status and renewal.
(4) Any written or computer-generated license verification.
(5) Any written or computer-generated disciplinary report.
(6) To obtain a duplicate license.
(7) To obtain a duplicate renewal certificate.
(8) To obtain a mail list.
