APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT:  Appropriates funds for payment of consent judgment
against the state through the Department of Transportation and Development in the
suit entitled "Larry and Rose Storey, et ux versus State of Louisiana, through the
Department of Transportation and Development, G. Wall and Safeway Insurance
Company of Louisiana"
1	AN ACT
2To appropriate monies out of the state general fund for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 to be used to
3 pay the consent judgment signed by the Honorable Brenda Bedsole Ricks on April
4 22, 2015, between the state of Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation
5 and Development and Larry Storey and Rose Storey in the suit entitled "Larry and
6 Rose Storey, et ux versus State of Louisiana, through the Department of
7 Transportation and Development, G. Wall and Safeway Insurance Company of
8 Louisiana"; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related matters.
9Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1.  The sum of Seventy-Five Thousand and No/100 ($75,000) dollars is
11hereby payable out of the State General Fund (Direct) for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 for
12payment of the consent judgment signed by the Honorable Brenda Bedsole Ricks on April
1322, 2015, between the state of Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation and
14Development and Larry Storey and Rose Storey in the suit entitled "Larry and Rose Storey,
15et ux versus State of Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation and Development,
16G. Wall and Safeway Insurance Company of Louisiana", bearing Number 2004-000408 on
17the docket of the Twenty-First Judicial District Court, parish of Tangipahoa, state of
18Louisiana.

1 Section 2.  A judgment may only be paid from this appropriation if it is final and
2shall be paid as to principal, interest, court costs, and expert witness fees as awarded in the
3judgment.  If the provisions of the judgment conflict with the provisions of this Act, the
4provisions of the judgment shall be controlling.  Any other provision of this Act not in
5conflict with the provisions of a judgment shall control.  Payment shall be made only after
6presentation to the state treasurer of documentation required by the state treasurer.  Further,
7the judgment shall be deemed to have been paid on the effective date of this Act, and interest
8shall cease to run as of that date.  
9 Section 3.  This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2021; if vetoed by the governor
10and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
112021, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
