HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 126
BY REPRESENTATIVE FARNUM AND SENATOR JOHNS
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To express the condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana on the death of Christopher L.
"Chris" Duncan.
WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the Legislature of
Louisiana has learned of the death, on Friday, June 4, 2021, of Christopher L. "Chris"
Duncan, former mayor of Sulphur, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Chris was born at Chennault Air Force Base on July 30, 1961, while his
father was stationed at the base; he was a member of the 1979 graduating class at Barbe
High School and a graduate of Sowela Technical Institute; and
WHEREAS, Chris was a very active member of the Sulphur community; he founded
the Chris Duncan Insurance Agency in 1988; he was also a charter member of Christian Life
Church of Sulphur and an active member of many committees and clubs including the
Sulphur Armed Forces Committee, the Sulphur Sunrise Rotary Club, the Sulphur Ministerial
Fellowship, and the Calcasieu Council on Aging; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Duncan was also very civic-minded; he served on the Sulphur city
council from 2004 until 2010, and he held the office of mayor of Sulphur from 2010 until
2018; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Duncan leaves to cherish his memory his wife of thirty years, Angel
Duncan; his son, Nick Duncan, and his wife Amberly; his daughters, Kathryn Duncan, and
her husband Chris Walkin, and Madison Duncan, and her fiancée Kyle Griffen; his
grandchildren, Samson, Lilette, and Carrington; his brother, Wes Duncan, Jr., and his wife
Hope; and his sister, Trina Miller; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Duncan was a truly dedicated servant of his community; he will be
deeply missed but certainly never forgotten.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
express heartfelt condolences on the death of Christopher L. "Chris" Duncan; does hereby
recognize his incredible service and dedication to the city of Sulphur and its citizens; and
does hereby extend sincere hopes that his family find comfort during this extremely difficult
time.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Christopher L. "Chris" Duncan.
