of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical
College, the Board of Supervisors of Southern University and Agricultural and

WHEREAS, as of April 7, 2021, of the fifteen members of each board, not counting
student members, the LSU board has three women (20% of board membership); the SU
board has three women (20% of board membership); the UL board has four women (26.67%
of board membership); the LCTCS board has four women (26.67% of board membership);
and the Board of Regents has four women (26.67% of board membership); and
WHEREAS, according to the most recent data from the United States Census
Bureau, women comprise approximately fifty-one percent of the population in the state of
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the terms of a number of members of each board will expire between
July 1, 2021, and July 1, 2023, which will create numerous opportunities over the next two
years for the governor to appoint additional women to each board so that the boards more
accurately reflect the population of the state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
urge and request Governor John Bel Edwards to appoint additional women to the Board of
Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, the
Board of Supervisors of Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, the

comprise at least fifty percent of the membership of each board by July 1, 2023.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Governor John Bel Edwards.
