HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 111

A RESOLUTION
To commend Reverend Dr. Lionel Davis, Sr., on the occasion of his twentieth pastoral
anniversary.
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Lionel Davis, Sr., has devoted the last two decades to the
pastorship of Pentecost Baptist Church in New Orleans; he is a strong-willed man of faith
whose openly humble approach to leadership draws people to his church; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Davis has served the members of Pentecost Baptist Church
faithfully; his contributions to community outreach are well-documented throughout New
Orleans and the entire state of Louisiana; he collaborates with elected officials to fulfill his
civic duty to promote good government, and his experience in civil government has
motivated many newly elected public servants to seek out his advice; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Davis has been heavily involved in nearly every major
development in the Pilotland and St. Bernard neighborhoods; he has even been labeled as
"The Mayor of Pilotland" because of his passion for the protection of Pilotland and the
preservation of its history; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Davis has always used his clerical authority to give back to his
community; he actively seeks resources and material support necessary to provide public
schools with access to updated curriculum; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Davis is an exemplary minister; his time as chaplain and life
coach with the Orleans Parish Prison System and service on the advisory board for Dillard
University's Office of Church and Community Relations are testaments to his willingness
to serve others; he is most deserving of recognition.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Reverend Dr. Lionel Davis, Sr., on the
occasion of his twentieth pastoral anniversary; does hereby recognize Pastor Davis's ongoing
commitment to his church and community; and does hereby extend sincere hopes for his
continued success as pastor of Pentecost Baptist Church.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Reverend Dr. Lionel Davis, Sr.
