HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 123
BY REPRESENTATIVES ILLG AND STAGNI
A RESOLUTION
To commend the John Curtis Christian School Lady Patriots softball team on winning the
2021 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division I state championship.
WHEREAS, the 2021 John Curtis softball team held fast to the team's winning
tradition by bringing home a state championship after a remarkable 24-4 season; and
WHEREAS, in fact, John Curtis does not just win, it dominates; this is the eleventh
state softball championship for the Lady Patriots, and in the 2021 tournament, it shut out the
opposition in both the semi-final and the championship game; and
WHEREAS, the state championship game is an example of the team's formula for
victory; Katie Kempton was recognized as the game's Most Valuable Player, but there were
many other outstanding performances from her teammates, all of which together made the
championship a reality; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Jerry Godfrey calls on his players to remember that
teamwork is the path to success, and now the 2021 Lady Patriots softball team can proudly
say that they heard that call; the success that has come from their hard work and teamwork
has brought honor to John Curtis Christian School and all of its supporters; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana House of Representatives finds such achievement most
deserving of recognition and commendation.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the John Curtis Christian School Lady
Patriots softball team on winning the 2021 Louisiana High School Athletic Association
Division I state championship and does hereby express its hope that the players and coaches
find such success in all of their future endeavors, on and off the field.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of John Curtis Christian School.
