ENROLLED 2021 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 125 BY REPRESENTATIVE MIKE JOHNSON A RESOLUTION To recognize May 22, 2021, as Thelma Jones Haynes Day in the state of Louisiana and to commend Ms. Haynes on the occasion of her one hundred fourth birthday. WHEREAS, on May 22, 2021, Thelma Jones Haynes will be honored by friends and relatives on the occasion of her one hundred fourth birthday; and WHEREAS, Ms. Haynes was born on May 22, 1917, in Jonesville, Louisiana, and has been a resident of Ball, Louisiana, for over thirty years; and WHEREAS, Ms. Haynes became the wife of M.J. Haynes in 1936, and her marriage to Mr. Haynes was blessed with three children, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; and WHEREAS, in addition to being a wife and mother, Ms. Haynes has been an active citizen and member of several churches, including Emmanuel Baptist Church in Alexandria and Hosanna Baptist Church in Ball; and WHEREAS, during a long and productive lifetime, Ms. Haynes has demonstrated, in countless ways, her dedication to the welfare of others, and, in so doing, has earned the respect and affection of people of all ages from all walks of life; and WHEREAS, Ms. Haynes has lived during one of the most eventful centuries of world history, and in her quiet way, has been a force for good and a stabilizing influence on those around her during these turbulent years. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate May 22, 2021, as Thelma Jones Haynes Day in the state of Louisiana and does hereby extend sincere congratulations to Ms. Haynes on the momentous occasion of her one hundred fourth birthday and wish her many more happy and productive years.
