HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 137
BY REPRESENTATIVES CREWS, HORTON, JENKINS, MCCORMICK, MCMAHEN,
AND PRESSLY
A RESOLUTION
To commend Bossier Parish Community College for its achievements.
WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College had a truly impressive year and
accomplished a number of noteworthy achievements; and
WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College athletic program was incredibly
successful this year and all teams competed in post-season competitions; the softball team
had a record-setting season and finished as the regular season champions of their conference;
the track and field team also had its first ever nationals-qualifying athletes; and
WHEREAS, the debate team won the national debate championship for the fifth time
in school history; and
WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College Nursing Program faculty and
students participated in extensive volunteer efforts to support COVID-19 testing and
vaccinations over the course of the past year; the program also enjoyed a 100% passage rate
for first-time NCLEX-RN exam takers; and
WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College also had its first Fulbright Scholar-
in-Residence; the student is a native of Belize and is also the first Fulbright Scholar-in-
Residence for any two-year college in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, 2021 was the tenth-consecutive year that the school was recognized as
a military-friendly college; it is also recognized as a military spouse-friendly college; and
WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College's Cavalier Care Center opened
this year to serve as a clearing house for student support services that address insecurities
that impact student success; and

WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College received the 2021 Top Business
Innovation Award from the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and was a finalist for the
2021 Bellwether Award; and
WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College also collaborated with Northwest
Louisiana Technical Community College to offer a new commercial vehicle operations
program, and the school is launching new programs to meet regional workforce needs; and
WHEREAS, Bossier Parish Community College is most deserving of recognition for
having a truly outstanding year filled with accomplishments and accolades.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Bossier Parish Community College for its
achievements; does hereby recognize Bossier Parish Community College's immense value
to the state of Louisiana as an institution of higher education; and does hereby extend sincere
hopes that Bossier Parish Community College enjoy success in its future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
chancellor of Bossier Parish Community College.
