HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 138
BY REPRESENTATIVES CREWS, HORTON, JENKINS, MCCORMICK, MCMAHEN,
AND PRESSLY
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Bossier Parish Community College nursing program.
WHEREAS, the Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) nursing program is
committed to student-centered learning through academic instruction, clinical simulation,
clinical experiences, and community service to promote excellence in nursing; and
WHEREAS, BPCC recognizes the nursing faculty and students for their extensive
volunteerism to support COVID testing and vaccinations and boasts a 100% passage rate for
first-time takers of the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurse
(NCLEX-RN) for its graduates; and
WHEREAS, BPCC is launching a new Licensed Practical Nursing program this year
to meet regional workforce needs; and
WHEREAS,  nursing is a high demand career with good employment opportunities
and job stability; many hospitals may offer new graduates incentives, such as sign-on
bonuses, shift differentials, or tuition reimbursement; and
WHEREAS, healthcare is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States
and the demand for skilled professional nurses has never been greater; nurses play a vital
role in providing direct patient care, and BPCC's nursing program is worthy of
commendation for its contributions to this critical sector of the economy.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Bossier Parish Community College
nursing program on preparing students for patient-centered care; does hereby recognize the
program for superiority in NCLEX-RN passage; and extends sincere hopes for the continued
academic excellence for the college's nursing program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
dean of Science, Nursing, and Allied Health of BPCC.
