HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 146

A RESOLUTION
To commend Alton and Patricia Mansfield for their service to the people of the state of
Louisiana through their ministry in the Catholic Church.
WHEREAS, Alton and Patricia Mansfield have recently announced their retirement
from leading the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Archdiocese of New Orleans
(CCRNO) after nearly fifty years of service to the Catholic community in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the formal establishment of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of New
Orleans as a ministry of the archdiocese and the leadership of Rev. Harold Cohen, SJ, have
changed thousands of lives of Catholics throughout the state; CCRNO encompasses a pro-
life ministry, youth ministry, prayer meetings, retreats, conferences, and hundreds of other
events offered throughout the Gulf South annually; and
WHEREAS, Al and Patti's work will have long lasting and positive effect on the
statewide Catholic community, producing many religious vocations in the area; and
WHEREAS, Al and Patti's service to the Church is testament to the many lay
volunteers, employees, contributors, and the religious over the years who have helped
support the ministry, and their dedication and work are most deserving of recognition.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Alton and Patricia Mansfield upon their
retirement from leadership of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of New Orleans; does
hereby offer congratulations for a job well done; does hereby extend best wishes for the
continued success of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Archdiocese of New Orleans
under the new leadership of Deacon Larry Oney; and does hereby express hopes for a
retirement filled with the gifts of the Spirit for Al and Patti.
