HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 15

A RESOLUTION
To commend Boys & Girls Clubs and to designate April 12-17, 2021, as Boys & Girls Clubs
Week in Louisiana.
WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs in Louisiana serve more than 19,000 kids and teens
annually; and
WHEREAS, the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs is to enable young people, especially
those who need help, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible
citizens; and
WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs work to ensure that each member reaches three
priority outcomes: academic success (as evidenced by graduation from high school and
readiness for subsequent experiences in college, trade school, military service, or full-time
employment), good character and citizenship (as manifest in community engagement, voting
registration, and the cultivation of a strong character), and a commitment to healthy lifestyles
(as epitomized by the adoption of a healthy diet, the practicing of healthy lifestyle choices,
and a lifelong commitment to fitness); and
WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs provided important services to youth and families
throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs around the state of Louisiana provide valuable
opportunities for youth; and
WHEREAS, the dedicated professionals in Boys & Girls Clubs provide important
connections with caring and supportive adults for kids and teens who need them the most;
and
WHEREAS, Boys & Girls Clubs are committed to reaching more young people in
the state in communities large and small.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the state for
their outstanding commitment to children, teens, and families, and for ensuring that young
people have a safe, fun, and positive place to go, especially during times of crisis, and hereby
recognizes the week of April 12-17, 2021, as Boys & Girls Clubs Week in Louisiana.
