HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 152

A RESOLUTION
To commend St. Amant High School's Coach Larry Favorite on the occasion of his
retirement.
WHEREAS, Coach Favorite has coached at St. Amant High School for the past
forty-three years; he served as the school's head basketball coach for all of those years and
as the head football coach for thirty-three years; and
WHEREAS, Coach Favorite was a standout athlete in high school and college; he
lettered in basketball and football and competed in track and field during his time as a
student at East Ascension High School; he played offensive tackle for the Grambling State
University Tigers football team from 1971 until 1975; he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons
during the 1975 NFL Draft; and
WHEREAS, as a coach, Coach Favorite led the St. Amant football team to numerous
state playoff appearances; he also led the school's basketball team to several district
championships and state tournament appearances; and
WHEREAS, Coach Favorite was a member of the inaugural basketball and football
coaching staffs at St. Amant High School; and
WHEREAS, Coach Favorite has been married to Mary Favorite for forty-four years,
and they have two children, Rainie and Shamory Favorite; he is a devoted community
servant who has worked at numerous camps for underprivileged children throughout his
career, and he has served as a motivational speaker at churches throughout his community;
and
WHEREAS, in his free time, Coach Favorite enjoys spending time with his family
and friends, and he is especially fond of the time he shares with his grandson; and
WHEREAS, Coach Larry Favorite is a pillar of the Ascension Parish community and
he is most deserving of recognition.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend St. Amant High School's Coach Larry
Favorite on the occasion of his retirement; does hereby recognize Coach Favorite's
dedication to the Ascension Parish community; does hereby express appreciation to Coach
Favorite for devoting more than four decades to coaching high school athletes and molding
them into successful citizens; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that Coach Favorite
enjoy a comfortable retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Larry
Favorite.
