HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 162

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Hicks High School baseball team on winning the Louisiana High School
Athletic Association 2021 Class C state championship.
WHEREAS, the Hicks High School Pirates baseball team won its fourteenth state
title by defeating Hornbeck High School, 4-0, in the Class C state championship game; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Gary Williams guided the Pirates to a 28-3 overall record
and an undefeated district record of 6-0; and
WHEREAS, the Pirates maintained a team average GPA of 3.412; and
WHEREAS, Hicks High School has a storied baseball program that includes twenty
appearances in state championship games and fourteen state championship victories; of the
fourteen state championships, thirteen were earned in Class C, and one was earned in Class
B; and
WHEREAS, in the past fifteen years, seven Hicks High School baseball players
signed to play at the collegiate level, and sixteen players received All-State honors; and
WHEREAS, the Hicks High School baseball team is most deserving of recognition
for its incredible season and its noteworthy winning tradition.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Hicks High School baseball team on
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2021 Class C state championship
and does hereby extend sincere hopes for the continued success of the members of the team.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of Hicks High School.
