HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 18
BY REPRESENTATIVE MARINO
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Christopher
Blaise "Chris" Edwards.
WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of
Representatives has learned of the death, on April 11, 2021, of Christopher Blaise "Chris"
Edwards, after a hard-fought, year-long battle with cancer; and
WHEREAS, Chris was born to the late Daniel Boone Edwards and Catherine
Murphy Edwards in New Orleans on August 12, 1965; he attended St. Julian Eymard
Elementary School in Algiers and was a graduate of Jesuit High School; and
WHEREAS, Chris completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre
Dame and earned a juris doctorate degree at Tulane University Law School; he practiced law
in Gretna for thirty years and was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the
Jefferson Bar Association, and the Westbank Rotary Club; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Edwards was very involved in the community; he volunteered to
serve as Cubmaster of Scout Pack 393 and as chairman of the board for Belle Chasse
Academy; he was also a longtime member of the Krewe of Alla; and
WHEREAS, Chris Edwards is remembered for his ability to bring laughter to any
setting with his sometimes irreverent sense of humor; he was an incredibly loyal friend who
always enjoyed helping others; he was especially fond of fishing, traveling, collecting wine,
and celebrating Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Blaise "Chris" Edwards is survived by his wife, Deidra
Kepler Edwards; his son, William Blaise Edwards; his daughter, Catherine Alecta Edwards;
his brother, Benjamin Dudley Edwards, and his wife Kathleen Pendergrast; and his nephew,
Benjamin Edwards, and his wife Emily; and

WHEREAS, Chris displayed a tremendous measure of strength and a positive
attitude throughout his battle with cancer; he will be deeply missed, but certainly not
forgotten.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of
Christopher Blaise "Chris" Edwards; does hereby commend Chris for being a beacon of light
in his community despite the battle he faced; and does hereby extend sincere hopes that his
family, friends, and loved ones find comfort during this difficult time.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Christopher Blaise "Chris" Edwards.
