HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 208
BY REPRESENTATIVE CARPENTER
A RESOLUTION
To commend Southern University Laboratory School Coach Rebecca Marshall on the
occasion of her retirement.
WHEREAS, Coach Marshall has coached at Southern University Laboratory School
for the past thirty-one years; throughout her tenure, she served as the head coach of the girls'
track team; she also served as an assistant volleyball coach, the school's athletic director, and
as dean of students; and
WHEREAS, Coach Marshall led the Southern University Laboratory School girls'
track team to twenty-one state championships, including sixteen consecutive state
championships; she has also earned numerous coach of the year honors; and
WHEREAS, Coach Marshall's son, Maalik Trevaughn Marshall, who is a former
state champion in high school track and gymnastics, has served as her assistant coach for the
past two years; and
WHEREAS, outside of coaching, Coach Marshall enjoys spending time with her
family and friends, and she is especially fond of the time she spends with her great-nephew,
Kohen Williams; and
WHEREAS, Coach Rebecca Marshall is a pillar in the Southern University
Laboratory School community, and she is most deserving of the highest recognition for her
decades of leadership and success.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Southern University Laboratory School
Coach Rebecca Marshall on the occasion of her retirement; does hereby recognize her
dedication to Southern University Laboratory School; does hereby express genuine
appreciation to Coach Marshall for devoting more than three decades to coaching high

school athletes and molding them into successful adults; and does hereby extend sincere
wishes that she enjoy a comfortable retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Rebecca Marshall.
