ENROLLED 2021 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 31 BY REPRESENTATIVE FIRMENT A RESOLUTION To commend Dr. Kenneth P. Mauterer, Jr., on the occasion of his retirement. WHEREAS, Dr. Mauterer is a native of Olla in LaSalle Parish, and a graduate of LaSalle High School; as a young man, he aspired to work as a physician, and the local Kiwanis Club collected money to help pay for his medical school education; and WHEREAS, Kenneth graduated from Northeast Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana at Monroe, with a bachelor of science degree and magna cum laude honors; and WHEREAS, he graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport in 1974 and began a year-long internship at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport; and WHEREAS, Dr. Mauterer has always put his community first; he chose to forgo opportunities to specialize in surgery or pediatrics so that he could immediately return to his hometown, which was in serious need of a physician; as Olla's only local doctor, he took on the responsibility of providing general medical care for his entire, tight-knit community; and WHEREAS, Dr. Mauterer owned a private practice and was affiliated with Hardtner Medical Center for forty-four years where he served as chief of staff for twenty-two years and director of ambulance services for eight years; and WHEREAS, Dr. Mauterer is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and the Rapides Parish Medical Society; and WHEREAS, Dr. Mauterer is a true pillar in the Olla community, and his sacrifices and contributions to the health of the people of LaSalle Parish are most deserving of highest recognition. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 31 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dr. Kenneth P. Mauterer, Jr., on the occasion of his retirement; does hereby acknowledge Dr. Mauterer's incredible impact on rural communities of northwest LaSalle Parish; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that his retirement is as fulfilling as his career.
